Ep.74 | Artist Mindy Lui on airing blankets, medicinal properties of tangerine peels, and how the value of objects change.
from The Last Supper - Art in Asia · host Oscar Venhuis
In today’s episode I met Mindy Lui, a Hong Kong-based artist. From her studio we discussed her work and began our conversation with her airing blanket project, we discussed the background of her tangerine peel work, talked about how she collaborated with Hidden Space team and we delved into how the value of objects change over time. Mindy LUI (b.1997, Hong Kong) obtained her BA in Fine Arts from the Academy of Visual Arts, Hong Kong Baptist University in 2020. She works primarily with drawing and painting, and increasingly experiments with adjacent video and found objects installation. Focusing on the material cultures of various everyday objects, her practice examines the value ascribed to man made objects and opens up the possibilities of intimacy and the bond between humans and objects.
