Ep 79: That Thing You Do! (Mental Health Month)

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, so we are taking a break from our usually crapfest and covering movies that we love! This week, we have Jack's pick, THAT THING YOU DO! Written and directed by Tom Hanks and starring Tom Everett Scott, Steve Zahn, Johnathan Schaech, Ethan Embry, Liv Tyler, Charlize Theron and Mr. Thomas Hanks himself. Jack’s love for Tom Hanks is no secret, so he picked this one for us. A feel-good musical biopic of sorts about a fictional band’s rise to stardom thanks to their cool ass drummer and a catchy as hell song. Schaech and Scott have a butting of heads along the way but Embry and Zahn are just in it for the ride. This is a sweet, clean-cut, Hanks-ian comedy featuring some fun music, great jokes and good times. Whitney and Jack know this one pretty well, but it’s Derrick’s first foray, how will that go?
