In anticipation of the sequel which hits theaters tomorrow we figured it was excellent timing to queue up Practical Magic! But first, we're yapping about kids cutting their hair (ourselves included), Leah Remini joining Beverly Hills, and Carol Radziwill returning to RHONY. After a bit of housewives chit chat we're getting into a discussion about a dialogue that's happening online between single and married women which ties nicely into the themes of today's movie recap. Then it's time to get in the weeds with a Pop Culture Archives review of Practical Magic! We are bringing you some fun facts about the movie and cast and then we're digging deep on themes of misogyny, the madonna whore complex, pick me fixation, and which kind of women deserve fairy tale endings. That being said, we absolutely love this movie and we consider this one of the better rom coms of the era. Diane Wiest, Stockard Channing, Sandra Bullock, and Nicole Kidman deliver excellent and hilarious performances and we appreciate the spooky supernatural elements.
