EP013_EN_Dysnomía – how to bring order within ourselves

from OLYMPUS - cosmos, miths and self-awareness · host A. Carminati

Dysnomia is the only moon of the dwarf planet Eris. In Greek mythology, Dysnomia is the personification of “anarchy,” “lawlessness,” and the “absence of social order,” and she is the daughter of the goddess Eris, the goddess of discord. Dysnomia is not a goddess in the classical sense, but a spirit embodying an abstract concept—a lack of order that can be external to us, but also internal. It represents a loss of moral direction that leads to unvirtuous behavior… a disturbance, a turmoil that each of us faces in life and that can be reorganized and redirected toward good through virtuous examples and strong ethical principles. Being able to bring order within ourselves is the first and fundamental step in tracing a “furrow”—a guiding line—that gives direction to every choice we make, a “moral compass” that must point us toward the right decisions to guide our lives.
