“32 Pomona” is an asteroid in the main belt. In mythology, Pomona was the Roman goddess of fruits and gardens. She devoted herself diligently to tending her orchard and garden, until the god Vertumnus, through various transformations, managed to win her over. Pomona is not the goddess of wild nature, but of nature that is ordered and carefully cultivated. She represents a strong work ethic, a sense of duty, and the patient care of results—values that today are often replaced by opportunism and the tendency to give up easily.
