EP039 - Do you need rest days? How to change your perspective on recovery.

from Truth in Coaching

High performance always requires recovery on the back end. Strength training causes muscle tissue damage that has to get repaired in order for you to get stronger. It HAS to work this way and it's why weightlifting works to begin with. But without enough recovery time, you're prone to stunting progress or even injury.Josh argues that most people aren't consistent enough to even worry about scheduling rest days. Their off days are even unhelpful because recovery isn't supported by the right kind of activity or nutrition. He introduces the concept of deload week in the gym.Jordan argues that many people use workouts as stress relief and don't listen to their bodies when they really should rest and that there are enough workout addicts out there that need to schedule recovery days. She also shares alternate stress relief ideas.Josh returns from 3 weeks of USMC training in Hawaii and Jordan questions whether he was working hard or hardly working.Visit us at www.truthincoaching.comYou can check out how we workout, eat, and more here:https://www.instagram.com/truthincoaching/And don't forget to drop us a note!Speech of the Week (SPoTW) is: Deliberate Practice and starts at: 30:08See what Josh wrote about that here: https://www.pcflongmont.com/post/speech-of-the-week-deliberate-practiceVisit our gym or schedule a consult with us here:www.pcflongmont.comhttps://www.pcflongmont.com/jspencerhttps://www.pcflongmont.com/jkauffmannhttps://www.pcflongmont.com/kfarquhar Hosted on Acast.
