from Well Workplaces · host Tom Bosna

We are excited to present our newest 4-part mini-series, Courageous Women Leaders, featuring high-performance consultant Poppy Griffiths.  Tune in as we engage in insightful conversations around these four key subjects: Tapping into self-awareness and strengths for success The power of vulnerability to show up as our best selves Using empathy for A+ leadership Building Resilience to bounce back from setback In this episode, we explore the topic of empathy and empathetic leadership. Poppy discusses the importance of empathy in today's hybrid work environment and breaks down what empathy truly means. Empathy is our ability to see the world through other people's eyes. It involves being compassionate to their feelings and emotions and requires us to put our own egos aside. Self-awareness is also key to empathy as it allows us to recognise our own imperfections and be more curious and compassionate towards the imperfections and differences of others. Poppy also touches on the neuroscience behind empathy, with the emotional centre of our brain perceiving the feelings of others and the cognitive centre of our brain working to understand and help them.  Empathy is a vital skill for leaders to cultivate as it allows them to connect with their teams on a deeper level, understand their needs and perspectives, and ultimately drive better results.
