In 1945, a poor mixed-race child was born in the tiny Jamaican village of Nine Mile. No one knew that this child would one day make the entire world fall in love with his voice. Bob Marley, the king of reggae and the spiritual icon of the Rastafari movement, accomplished in thirty-six years what many people could not achieve in a lifetime. Starting from the slums of Trenchtown with a broken guitar, he transformed anger into melody and oppression into a anthem of freedom. He stepped onto stage just days after being shot. He made two political enemies clasp hands before tens of thousands of people. His music rang across African skies at independence celebrations. More than forty years after his death, over sixty million people still listen to his songs every month. Because he told the truth. Because his music was an invitation to rise, to think, to love, and to resist. Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery. That was one of the most important messages he left to the world. Powered by Firstory Hosting
