In 1893, a young Indian lawyer was thrown off a train in South Africa. He sat alone on a cold platform through the night and made a decision that changed the course of the twentieth century. Mohandas Gandhi, later known as Mahatma, the Great Soul, chose a weapon unlike any other: the power of the soul itself. He wore the simplest white cloth, walked through Indian villages listening to farmers, and developed the philosophy of Satyagraha, nonviolent resistance to injustice. In 1930, at sixty-one years old, Gandhi led seventy-eight followers on a 388-kilometer walk to the sea, where he bent down and lifted a handful of untaxed salt. That single gesture shook the British Empire. He spent more than two thousand days in prison across his lifetime, and walked out stronger every time. His ideas directly inspired Martin Luther King Jr., Nelson Mandela, and generations of people around the world. He said: be the change you wish to see in the world. And he spent his entire life proving that it was possible. Today, Jenny takes you through the legendary life of Mahatma Gandhi: from a cold train platform, to a handful of salt by the sea, to his final walk to evening prayers. This is the story of a soul that outlasted an empire. Powered by Firstory Hosting
