Auguste Rodin failed his entrance exams three times, was once accused of fraud, and spent fifteen years divided between two women who both loved him completely. Yet he became the sculptor who gave stone a heartbeat, whose Thinker sits at the center of the human imagination, and whose Gates of Hell took forty years and still came to him unfinished. But behind all the glory stands the figure of Camille Claudel, a sculptor of extraordinary genius who ended her days alone in a psychiatric institution. Today we trace the full arc of Rodin's remarkable life and refuse to let Camille disappear into the margins of his story. Powered by Firstory Hosting
