In Hollywood's golden age, one woman went to war with the entire world over a pair of trousers. Her name was Katharine Hepburn, and the American Film Institute named her the greatest female star in American film history. She received twelve Academy Award nominations for Best Actress and won four times, a record spanning thirty-four years that no performer has ever matched. Hepburn never lived by Hollywood's rules. She was too tall, her voice too unusual, her personality too fierce. The studios repeatedly told her she did not fit the standard. But she staged one of the greatest career comebacks in film history with The Philadelphia Story, astonished the world again with The African Queen, and at seventy-four won her fourth Oscar for On Golden Pond, proving she had never once stopped burning. This episode of Tribute to the Masters explores Hepburn's formative years, the dramatic arc of her career, her twenty-seven-year secret love with Spencer Tracy, and her lasting influence on female consciousness and the history of cinema. Join Jenny in paying tribute to one of Hollywood's most enduring and irreplaceable legends. Hollywood, ClassicFilm, WomenEmpowerment Powered by Firstory Hosting
