If there is one voice that has accompanied generations of people around the world in their understanding of this planet, it belongs to Sir David Attenborough. Born in London in 1926, he studied natural sciences at Cambridge, joined the BBC in 1952, and over the following decades transformed the way humanity sees the natural world. Life on Earth. The Blue Planet. Planet Earth. Our Planet. Each series pushed the boundaries of documentary filmmaking and deepened the human understanding of life on this planet. At ninety-three he stood at the United Nations Climate Action Summit. In his book he noted that in his own lifetime, the share of wild animals in global vertebrate biomass had fallen from 66 percent to 4 percent. He said he still had things to say. He said there were too many beautiful things that needed to be seen before they were gone. Today on Thinker J, we talk about the man who spent a century telling the story of the earth. Powered by Firstory Hosting
