Ep39. 의자를 다시 나무로 되돌리는 일

이번 작업은 나무로 만든 의자 위에 여러 가지 실을 감아 새로운 표면을 만드는 과정입니다. 하나는 흰색, 하나는 검은색. 서로 다른 텍스처들이 반복적으로 쌓이며 하나의 결이 완성됩니다. 앉는 부분은 또아리처럼 말아 올려 커버를 만들었고, 그 형태는 나무의 나이테를 떠올리게 합니다. 저에게 이 작업은 의자를 덮는 일이 아니라, 가공된 나무를 다시 본래의 나무 형태로 복원하는 일에 가깝습니다. 반복, 표면, 시간, 그리고 손의 리듬에 대한 기록입니다.In this piece, I wrap different kinds of thread around wooden chairs to create a new surface. One in white, one in black. As layers of texture build up through repetition, a distinct grain begins to emerge. For the seat, I coil the thread into a circular cover that resembles tree rings. To me, this is less about covering a stool and more about restoring processed wood into something tactile and organic again. A study of repetition, surface, time, and the rhythm of the hand.
