Ep43: Transfer Rumours and Who Are The Undisputed EFL Championship Dead Ball Kings?

from A.I. In Football

In this episode we celebrate a massive jump in the total attendance for the EFL Championship in the 2023/24 season. Over 12 million people attended Championship games, a huge 22% increase on the previous season.........coincidence we started our podcast this season?? I'm sure we can't take all the credit.......or most of the credit.......or even a little of the credit really!Great to see that the EFL Championship is more popular than ever, and football fans see the drama, excitement and unpredictability that is has to offer. We hope that continues into the 2024/25 season. We also take a look at two transfer rumours and one recently completed deal. Allan Browne - Will he sign a new contract at Preston North End F.C.? Or will he relinquish club captain duties and move on to a new challenge? Wherever he ends up they'll have a player of great experience and excellent character. Will Vaulks - Sheffield Wednesday F.C.'s player of the 2023/24 season has confirmed his move to EFL Championship new boys Oxford United F.C. He's the sort of player you want in the dressing room in our opinion and will perhaps match the high intensity, high work rate style that Oxford showed in their excellent EFL League One Play Off Final. Ian Poveda - Recently on loan at Sheffield Wednesday F.C. from Leeds United F.C. He was subsequently released at the end of the season. The Owls seem keen to get him back perhaps, but there's noise that West Bromwich Albion F.C. are keen on the 24 year old who undoubtedly has the pedigree when you look at his youth CV........however, he has yet to really make an impact at any of his clubs on the senior stage. We don't know much about the London born Colombia international, but we're not sure whether The Baggies really have the need for another Right Side Attacking midfielder with club captain Jed Wallace and Tom Fellows already in the building. Last week I asked David whether there were any teams that consistently out performed the rest of the league in their conversion of dead ball passes into goals....... and David didn't disappoint! There was one team in particular that consistently outperforms the rest of the league..... any idea who you think that might be? Well..... listen and you'll find out.
