Ep5 Desiree Hulse @desireehulse_vsg

from BariDiaries™ Hosted by Powered by Healing. Fueled by Community.

Welcome Home to BariDiaries, Desiree Hulse joins Cece just two weeks after bariatric surgery, at the very beginning of learning what life after surgery will look like for her. As she begins introducing soft foods, Desiree shares the reality of adjusting to new eating habits while living in a household where everyone else's relationship with food hasn't changed. She talks about choosing the right surgery, the importance of family support, self-care, and the changes already beginning to take place in her mindset and her marriage. At the center of her story is a decision to start choosing herself. Desiree shares the reminders guiding her forward: "I'm choosing me, this is my year for me," and "Eat to Live, not Live to Eat." There is something powerful about hearing a bariatric story before anyone knows exactly how it will turn out. Desiree isn't looking back from the finish line. She's standing near the beginning, learning in real time what it means to build a different relationship with food, with herself, and with the life ahead of her.
