In 2023, a beautiful 31-year-old young woman named Saltanat Nukenova was beaten to death for eight hours straight by her violent husband, the former Minister of Economy in Kazakhstan, Kuandyk Bishimbayev. The couple had been married for less than a year, and throughout this short time, the powerful former politician brutalized Saltanat behind closed doors while publicly continuing to rub elbows with the nation's elite. Given the entrenched patriarchy surrounding Saltanat and her husband's ties to the nation's elite, this innocent woman was left with virtually no options for escape. As a result, tragically, she paid for this dire fact with her life.
