EPI 062 - Geopolitical Smokescreen

Geopolitical risks are a significant variable to consider at a macro economic level. When this variable becomes more prominent and penetrates global economies, chaos, tension and systemic pressure become an expected outcome. We have another year ahead of volatility and uncertainty: with issues like Russia and Ukraine, China and Taiwan/India, global revolt and protests against government mandates. These issues can easily add inflationary pressure on a global scale from oil and natural gas prices, supply disruptions and de-globalization from expanding political tension among nations. As an investor, we still have to keep our eyes and mind alert to these risks and allow them to guide our investment allocations be it for growth or hedging purposes. Heads up and stay alert because 2022 is going to another fascinating year.
