Episode 06: Two-Faced

from Prizefighting Kangaroo · host YabYum Music + Arts

Episode 06: Two-Faced On this episode of the PFK, Ashley and Amy take a look at movies where characters are living a double life. It's a theme that's sometimes funny and always psychologically compelling. These white-knuckle situations often cause distress and anxiety for the viewer, and we love blabbing about that which disrupts the psyche. Join us as we dig into A Scanner Darkly, The Departed, Vertigo, some David Lynch movies (no surprise there!), and more. Catch the PFK duo of Amy and Ashley every final Tuesday at Valley Bar in downtown Phoenix for TRIVIADOME -- movie and cinema culture trivia. Free sign up starts at 7:00 PM with trivia beginning promptly at 8, but be warned, it's best to bring a solid partner/team with you because this trivia is tough!

Heart & Soul with David Leser Shark Island Sessions Heart & Soul begins with the simple belief that beneath our opinions, accomplishments and public identities, there is an inner life asking to be heard. At a time of profound uncertainty and rapid change, Heart & Soul offers a place for spacious, thoughtful conversation with people who have deeply impacted our lives, as well as an opportunity to reflect more deeply on what it means to be human.A series of conversations with journalist and author David Leser, that delve deeply into some of the themes crying out for our attention, not the least being how to find empathy in an age of outrage. These will be unhurried conversations. No real agenda. No fixed destination. Simply a shared willingness to get curious, to speak honestly and to listen deeply. These intimate conversations are filmed and recorded in front of a small, invited audience at The Old Store in Kangaroo Valley, NSW AUSTRALIA. CKC Cinematic Kangaroo Court The CKC Podcast is a film criticism and analysis podcast hosted by avid movie watchers, Kyle Tallman and Kyle Gallagher. During the show, they talk film betwixt themselves and guests. Nonsense Verses by Edward Lear (1812 - 1888) LibriVox This is a collection of some of the delightful nonsense verses and stories by Edward Lear. A lot of them are also my favorites. The Jumblies, The Owl and the Pussy-cat; the Broom, the Shovel, The Poker and the Tongs; The Duck and the Kangaroo; The Cummerbund; The Dong with the Luminous Nose; The New Vestments; Calico Pie; The courtship of the Yonghy-Bonghy-Bo and Incidents in the Life of My Uncle Arly. Also included at no extra cost are two sections with my favorite Lear limericks. Only about 30 of them but they are all funny and full of delectable silliness. I hope you enjoy listening to these as much as I enjoyed recording them. (Summary by phil chenevert)
