Episode 078 | Stomach-Head Connection

from The 30 Percent Podcast · host The 30 Percent Podcast

In today's episode, Sam and Afam talk about what they've been up to. Nyashinski and Savara both announced that they will not be performing at the Madaraka Festival in the US due to the festival not being able to secure visas for the artists and their teams which sparks a discussion on the role of the government in helping push art outside of Kenya (11:15). Following that, they talk about the recent trouble brewing in the creative world. The Kenya Film Classification Board recently announced that they will be requiring licenses for YouTubers as well as require them to send their videos for "examination" before they are posted on the platform. Sam and Afam talk about this and what it may mean for creatives, and question whether it is even practical in the first place (23:00). Arbantone hit maker Stoopid Boy, who has been in the news recently for beefing with media personalities, turns his aim at Willy Paul on Mungai Eve's Platform (35:26). The boys also review new music that dropped last week! Song Pick: Billy Black, Coster Ojwang - "I See the Light". To bring more awareness to the different genres of music within the industry we hope to see the artists & songs discussed in the podcast receive the recognition they deserve.
