Episode 10: Prisoner

from Whatever Comes Next with Tom Osman · host Tom Osman

Prisoner are a hard band to put into a neat box. The Richmond, Virginia five-piece could be described as sludge metal, crust punk, industrial metal and more besides. What can be said with certainly is that the band’s forthcoming album Putrid / Obsolete makes for a convincing soundtrack to a world going up in flames. As heavy in mood as it is sonically, you might expect (after listening to these raging blasts of intensity) that the makers of this music would be similarly intense and intimidating. Happily, my experience of talking with Guitarist/ vocalist Pete Rozsa and drummer Joel Hansen was only positive. We talked about their formative musical passions, the long process of brining Putrid / Obsolete into existence, our shared love of Neurosis (the band!) and plenty more. You can pre-order the album from Persistent Vision Records, or Deathwish Inc for European customers. Thanks for reading (and listening). If you haven’t done so already, why not subscribe?
