The argument is this: Marilyn Monroe, the most photographed woman of the twentieth century, did not become a cultural icon because she was beautiful. She became one because she was dangerous - a woman who figured out exactly what the system wanted from her, gave it to them on purpose, and then used that power to start taking the whole thing apart from the inside.
