Head Boys Basketball Coach and Athletic Director at Bishop O’Connell High school in Arlington, VA. Has averaged 23 wins per year in his 18 years as head coach.   His 2016-2017 eclipsed the 400 win mark for Coaches career at O’Connell. Has led O'Connell to 5 Virginia State Independent Titles, 3 WCAC Regular Season Titles, 4 Alhambra Catholic Invitational Titles, and 1 WCAC Tournament Title. Selected as the Arlington County Coach of the Year three times, WCAC Coach of the Year once and Virginia State Independent Coach of the Year four times 51 of his former players and managers are currently playing or have played college athletics. Former Assistant at Division I Furman University, where he was the youngest assistant coach in the NCAA. Known for developing coaches, 13 of his former coaches are now working as college assistants, High School Head Coaches or administrators. Named by the Washingtonian Magazine as one of the "100 people to watch" in Washington in the 21st century. Has spoken at clinics throughout the country including: South Carolina, Colorado, Minnesota, Delaware, Missouri, Michigan, and Pennsylvania. A former assistant under his father, Morgan Wootten, where he was the top assistant before taking the job at O'Connell. Played and started for his father in high school on a team that posted a record of 30-0 and finished the season ranked #5 in the country.
