Episode 124 Opioid Crisis

from The Be Real Babe Podcast · host Brandi Marie

Next up on our talks about Big Pharma we chat about the current opioid crisis and how we got here exactly. Of course this all stems with good intentions back in the day to help soldiers deal with a plethora of issues they had to deal with and pain their went through but as the years went on, progression started and we ended up with things like heroin and fentanyl. Which again, we understand the need for intense cases of cancer and such illnesses/diseases but babes, the impact it has had on everyday people just looking for a moment of relief… not realizing the implications that comes with. The amount of people addicted to opiates in the world is astonishing. Being someone who is a past addict of pills, I know had it been offered to me (B) I would be in the same situation a lot of people are finding themselves. I truly do not believe most people addicted to this form of medication woke up one day and chose this. Most often then not you hear that someone was in a bad accident or had a surgery or was having some pain and took someone’s pain meds… and once those opiates hit those receptors and give them body this sense of relief, euphoria, escape, the body wants more and it will not stop. These chemicals take hold of your mind, body and soul. It’s all you can think about. It’s all your brain and body allow you to think about. It is a crushing and scary feeling. Almost like you are not in control of your actions. This is why we are so empathetic to those who have been affected either directly or someone they know. If you are suffering with addiction, please know you are worth every second here on earth and if you cannot feel that on your own, please see medical help. This episode is in no way medical advice or can even begin to truly capture the pain this has caused. We also understand if this is a sensitive subject and you have to skip it but please know we are just trying to spread the awareness of how dangerous this medication can be. And how little informed consent is here. Quit on par to the rest though….
