Episode 124 : "The Hanni Headache, recovering alcoholic, and the cilantro debate"

from Hungry for More : an Epicurean's Dilemma · host trish glose

Trish chats with the man dubbed the "wine anti-snob" by the Wall Street Journal. Tim Hanni was awarded the title Master of Wine in 1990 - one of the first of two resident Americans to achieve that honor, which the wine industry regards as the highest achievement and wrote the book, "Why you like the wines you like." Hanni is also a professionally-trained chef and he's worked hard his entire life to break down the barriers and what he calls misconceptions of food and wine pairings. He talks a a lot about the perception of wine and why it's unfair to judge certain tastes. A recovering alcoholic, Hanni talks about why he needed treatment and the reaction from the wine industry about being sober.
