Episode 13 - Poet Hawkins | Let the Song Speak

from The Corpus Christi Songwriters Podcast · host Corpus Christi Songwriters

Corpus Christi Songwriters' Jules Taylor, Jimmy Willden, and Garrett Wieland sit down with Poet Hawkins -- a songwriter "with the sound of a heart break and slowly putting itself back together" -- or rather, as described by the Austin Music Foundation...a voice reminiscent of Alexi Murdoch or Nick Drake. Hawkins is currently living in Austin, after moving from Los Angeles during the pandemic. The discussion touches on using open mics to find your scene, our mutual love of poetry, and letting the songs speak, while learning to shut up. Poet will be performing at the 2024 Corpus Christi Songwriters Festival Feb. 16-18. For more info and tix visit ccsongwriters.com Honorable Mentions: Mitch Ballard, BMI, Austin Music Foundation, Black Pumas.  Join us on Thursday, Dec. 21 for our next episode’s guest: The one-and-only Songwriter-At-Law, Libby Koch!
