On this first episode of Season Two, host Arlia Hoffman is joined by Katherine Elberfeld, a priest in the Episcopal Church and an author. They explore the experience of women in the church, the nature of God, and the epiphanies Katie received as she writes her latest book. Images of Christa: Katherine Elberfeld’s careers in journalism, freelance writing, and the Episcopal priesthood inform and inspire her writing. As the founder of the Gabriel Center for Servant-Leadership, she published To Speak of Love and In the Midst of Sunflowers. Her articles on servant-leadership have appeared in regional and international publications including, "Leadership in Action," "The (Lexington, Ky.) Advocate," the "Virginia Episcopalian" and "Washington Diocese." Katie's published work also includes the short story collection Make Yourselves at Home and the novel The Lady of the House. Forward Movement published Jordan to Jerusalem, a book of meditations for the season of Lent. Other short stories have appeared in "Appalachian Heritage," the literary magazine of Berea College, Berea, Ky. Katie is also an experienced facilitator in the applied human behavioral sciences and is an accomplished, dynamic public speaker. Katie holds a bachelor's degree in English from The University of the South in Sewanee, Tenn., a master's degree in communication from The American University in Washington, D.C., and a master's degree in divinity from The Virginia Theological Seminary in Alexandria, Va. Katie is passionate about reading, hiking, crossword puzzles, sudoku, pickleball, and music. She stubbornly remains a "Far Side" aficionado. A native of Georgia, she now lives in Marietta, not far from her hometown of Gainesville. The Women’s Sanctuary Podcast is produced and hosted by Arlia Hoffman.
