Episode #154: Call B.S. on Your B.S.

from Tea Time w/Amie & Bev · host Amie Wade

Often times, we are our own worst critics. We have expectations for ourselves that often go unmet, and in turn, make us feel like terrible human beings. It's hard to accept failure and shortcomings, but learning how to call yourself out on your own bullshit is an important step in personal growth. When life throws a curveball our way, it can be tempting to ignore the situation or rationalize our behavior. Instead of letting these moments pass us by, we could take the time to recognize where we could have done better or acted differently. In doing so, we can learn from our mistakes and grow as people. Rather than fixating on the negative aspects of a situation, try looking at it from a different perspective and think about what you could have done differently. Pinpointing areas of improvement helps you stay focused on goal setting and identifying weak spots in your character or thought process that needs work. Also, practice being honest with yourself at all times — especially when it’s uncomfortable or difficult — so that you can become more self-aware of your thoughts and feelings throughout any given situation. Owning up to your weaknesses and faults can be extremely empowering; it takes courage to confront harsh truths and present them objectively without fear of judgment or punishment from others. No one likes admitting they were wrong or have made mistakes — but learning how to call yourself out on your own bullshit is an essential part of personal growth and development. By recognizing opportunities for improvement within yourself, you create space for growth in your life that will ultimately lead to greater success down the road.May this conversation be beneficial to your life journey.
