Episode 16 - Worth: Busyness and The Delusion of Worth - Mahlatsi Makgatho

The everyday hustle and bustle of our lives has the potential to masquerade itself as something that determines our worth because of the gratification we find in it. Sometimes when we run fast enough we can easily find ourselves too occupied and distracted by our busyness that we neglect ourselves in the process of wanting to elevate ourselves financially, economically, socially and academically. We can find ourselves losing touch with our inner selves. When the world came to a halt due to the Coronavirus and the lockdowns that were instituted globally, a lot of us were forced to stop dead in our tracks to face ourselves and introduce ourselves to ourselves anew. We found ourselves having to do the hard work of tending to our emotions which we had been neglected for so long, having to inspect our hearts and look into our minds. A lot of us found that we were bruised and battered by the pressure of the fast paced lives that we live and had to reexamine the lens at which we chose to see ourselves; our value, our worth.
