Episode 169 Being Real with Kristin Torva Logan

from The Be Real Babe Podcast · host Brandi Marie

In the first segment of Being Real with, I bring in a powerhouse woman to share her experience with cancer and the health care system here in Canada. I truly have struggled to find the words to capture this situation Kristin Torva Logan is experiencing and I can’t seem to break it down in a few paragraphs but I’m going to try. Truly an episode worth tuning in to understand the depth of insanity our country is in & how it is truly affecting or will affect every day Canadians. In 2023 she started experiencing excruciating pain in her side and began a long journey of no answer for over 5 months. Being diagnosed with everything but what was actually happening and no one taking her seriously about her situation. After the summer passed and they were settling into life as empty nesters, Torva woke one night & drove herself to the hospital after experiencing the most excruciating pain in her abdomen. After not being listened to again & 5 doctors later, she found out she had fluid on her lungs & around her abdomen and it was thickening. Unfortunately indications of cancer. She was absolutely floored by this news. Not only was she a healthy, young individual, she had been screaming for help for months and ignored or misdiagnosed and here she was… absolutely right about something being wrong MONTHS ago. A few weeks later she got the confirmation it was Stage 4 high grade serous carcinoma, the most aggressive moving ovarian cancer. They needed to act immediately. But of course, thanks to our “free health care system” fast wasn’t an option. So after being told essentially to flee the country to get treatment, Torva & her family were in a race for their lives to get her sorted and in for surgery. By some sort of divine intervention, Torva was reminded she had access to US Vet benefits & could get treatment immediately in Washington. Although relieved, they still had to face the logistics, the stress of moving her in such a delicate state, they have bills to pay, a new university student to support & also have to be separated through it all too. But as the absolute bad asses they are, the Logans made it happen. They got her to the hospital, in surgery, chemo treatment and all the support she so needed from Canada. I cannot fit this all into a small box on these apps. Her story is truly one you need to hear from her & it’s still going yall. She still has one chemo treatment left as of this launch so please head to her instagram @ torvalogan or our support highlight to help support her go fund me as they face so many road blocks to get her healed ♥️ This babe has such a huge purpose on this earth. Let’s help support her to health so she can continue on her journey & to live her purpose of now helping others in this situation. The ripple effect could be huge here babes. Let’s put all we got into this one 🫶🏻
