episode 2 Depression doesn't have just one face

from The Feeling Theories Hosted by Harmonised Pathways

The Feeling Theories — episode 2 Depression doesn’t always look the way people expect it to. Sometimes it looks like not being able to get out of bed. Sometimes it looks like going to work, putting your make-up on, laughing with people and somehow still feeling completely empty underneath it all. In this episode of The Feeling Theories, I’m talking honestly about depression, and the different ways it can show up. We talk about that strange space between “I’m functioning” and “I’m actually not okay”, why struggling doesn’t always look obvious from the outside, and why two people experiencing depression can look completely different. This isn’t about putting everyone into the same box or pretending there’s one simple explanation. It’s about understanding what can be happening underneath the surface , including the thoughts, emotions and experiences that people often don’t say out loud. Because sometimes the person who looks absolutely fine is using every bit of energy they have just to keep looking fine. The Feeling Theories is where we have honest conversations about mental health, psychology and the things we think but don’t always say out loud. The Feeling Theories is for educational, informational and entertainment purposes only. I may discuss psychology, mental health, psychological research and my own lived experiences, but this podcast does not provide medical, psychological or therapeutic advice and is not a substitute for professional support. If anything discussed raises concerns about your own mental health, please seek support from an appropriately qualified healthcare professional or relevant support service. If you feel unable to keep yourself safe, please contact an appropriate crisis or emergency service. “Inspirational Breakthrough” by Shane Ivers — Silverman Sound Music used under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) licence.
