Episode 20 - Amends and The Promises - Emergency Protocol

Denise and Jackie discuss two big amends, The Promises, and personal growth on the other side of resistance. First, Jackie and Denise reflect on big moments in 2023. Jackie shares two big amends from wedding and tax season and the emotion around doing the “hard, but right, thing.” Then, Jackie and Denise share the history of a decades-old Freed Christmas Eve tradition and reflect on the guilt that came up from not leaning into usual holiday festivities. From there, the co-hosts discuss The AA Promises and what has shifted since they last interacted with the message, including its connection to the ninth step in Alcoholics Anonymous. This leads to a conversation about getting uncomfortable with your vulnerabilities and the influence technology has (for better or worse) as a communication device to support each other. Their Emergency Protocol: Do whatever you have to do to feel better. Lastly, Denise shares an office visualization workshop where everyone was forced to make phone calls they were putting off and she and Jackie discuss the freedom and relief from taking action. At the end of the day, it’s good to connect with people.
