Episode 201 Being real about Cancer with Torva & Donovan

from The Be Real Babe Podcast · host Brandi Marie

In this episode I get real about cancer with Torva & Donovan. You babes will remember this fire cracking couple who has worked tirelessly this past year to save Torva from cancer while also ensuring to sound the alarm bells for those being diagnosed in this country. For those that maybe don’t know or haven’t heard their episodes on Season 7 (Ep. 169,174 & 182) Torva was diagnosed with Stage 4 Ovarian cancer last year and had to make some extreme moves to ensure she got the help she needed. Not from the “free health care” we have in Canada but by her VA benefits in the US. In this interview we focus more on how Torva & Donovan managed the emotions of the cancer diagnosis, what it was like to feel abandon by the country you live in and we also talk about how this affected Donovan as the husband of a cancer survivor. We also talk about the lack of hope they noticed within the medical realm, how to mentally work through cancer and the biggest part of all…. How they are avoiding the return of cancer. This episode is jam packed with insightful tips on dealing with your own cancer diagnosis, how to support those going through cancer and how those in the family are still working through the thoughts of losing her, although she is here, it’s still a massive shock to your body, mind and soul and we need to talk about that. I cannot thank these two enough for not only being a huge support of the show, sharing their experiences with me but also making me feel empowered if this diagnosis is ever on my doorstep. Please listen with an open mind and heart and be ready to be inspired AF!
