Episode 21: Joyce Herzog on Early Learning, Homeschooling & The Scaredy Cat Read

from The Homeschool Leadercast · host The Homeschool Leadercast

Early Learning, Homeschooling & The Scaredy Cat Reading SystemIts important to understand that although some children begin learning academics early and some later, they all begin learning, as early as in the womb.  We need to begin early teaching our children virtues and who God is. The rest will come.  And if we do have that struggling learner, then know that there are options.  Teach a child using his or her learning styles or in a way that excites them.  Our guest today spent 25 years+ as an educator in the public and private school system and has a lot to offer including the advantages of homeschooling our children. Joyce Herzog taught in public and private schools for 25 years before moving on to encourage parents in the art of homeschooling. She has delighted crowds across the country with humor and candid homeschooling advice. Her years of experience with nontypical learners give her a unique perspective of focusing on individuals rather than presenting subjects or cruising through a curriculum. She has a master's degree in learning disabilities and  a doctorate as well as a Permanent Professional Iowa Teaching Certificate with an endorsement in Learning Disabilities. Joyce is the creator of The Scaredy Cat Reading System and author of more than 20 books, including Choosing & Using Curriculum, History in His Hands, and Learning in Spite of Labels. She has been a trusted educational consultant for more than two decades. Joyce has helped families all over North America find a new perspective on their children, their homeschool and their educational plans. She and her husband, Tom, live in Chattanooga, Tennessee where they continue to minister locally to families with special needs children.Connect with JoyceWebsite: JoyceHerzog.comFacebook: www.facebook.com/JoycomEDUFacebook: www.facebook.com/ScaredyCatReadingSystemFacebook: Homeschooling Fans of Joyce HerzogTwitter: @joyce_herzogPinterest: www.pinterest.com/joyceherzog/Phone: (423) 553-6387Listen to Joyce as she talks about:Talking virtue into a child's heart and the knowledge of who God isDefining homeschooling for those who are considering itHow we begin homeschooling and teaching our children as early as when they are in the wombHow long we should spend homeschooling each dayThe advantages of homeschool over traditional schools from someone who spent 25 years teaching in traditional schools. What we can do with struggling learnersHow we can teach a child in a way that excites him or herExplains her Scaredy Cat Reading SystemSecrets Teachers Never TellProducts Joyce MentionedScaredy Cat Reading SystemBooks by Joyce HerzogFavorite Biblical Passage2Peter 1:2-11Leave your comments and questions below and please share this episode with others. This page may contain affiliate links.
