Episode 72: Kevin Swanson talks about Discipling the Next Generation a Re-establ

Discipling the Next Generation a Re-establishing a Biblical Worldview The Homeschooling movement in this country is vital to our future.  God’s word tell us that it’s the parents responsibility to educate our children.  Unfortunately, we have surrendered our children to the state and allowed a government controlled school system to tell our kids that there is no god and that all lifestyles are to be validated.  In these godless schools, our children are told that the Bible is insignificant or that it’s okay to put yourself before all else.  How do we combat this when we send our kids to 14,000+ hours of education in their lifetime?  How are we supposed to disciple them and teach them a biblical worldview when they spend most of their day being influenced and pulled in the opposite direction.  The answer is to obey God and educate our children yourself.   I think we are all realizing that if you are going to disciple a child, you are just going to have to disciple a child. And it going to have to be this daily interaction and a fairly intensive, intentional discipleship.iTunes          Stitcher     iHeart RadioHomeschooled himself in the 1960′s and 70′s, Kevin Swanson and his wife, Brenda, are now homeschooling their five children. Episode 65: Lori Lane on Educating the Whole Heart of a Child

Educating the Whole Heart of a ChildGod’s instruction to us is to raise up our children to honor and glorify Him.  To do so, we must have a heart based approach to parenting. In doing so, our children begin to ask “What is the right thing to do to honor God?”  There are many vehicles and obstacles to a child’s heart and we must be diligent in doing what is necessary to point our children to the Lord; for us to have their heart and for the Lord to have their heart. Without their heart, it is near impossible to stay the course. The Education of America's Christian HeritageAmerica has forgotten it's history, it's heritage and it's heroes. America no longer stands on the moral, religious, and constitutional foundation which America was built. In the last half century or more, a progressive education has undermined the founding principles of America through attacks and revisionist history. In order for us to get back to where we once where, we must exert a direct and positive influence in government, education, and the family and homeschooling our children is a good place to start. Our guest today is Dr. David Barton is the Founder and President of WallBuilders, a national pro-family organization that presents America's forgotten history and heroes, with an emphasis on our moral, religious and constitutional heritage. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up." Deuteronomy 6:6-7.  Teaching scripture to our children at all times is mandated by God here in this passage that is popular among homeschoolers.  God tells us to impress his commandments upon our children when you sit, when you walk and when you lie down.  And scripture is applicable to everything in our lives. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 tells us, "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work." Episode 35: Jim Weiss on Storytelling and Greathall Productions

Storytelling and Greathall ProductionsStorytelling can be a wonderful activity used to captivate listeners and form bonds and relationships with our children.  It can be easy and fun or even elevated to an art form.  Today we are going to speak with storyteller Jim Weiss of GreatHall Productions.  He is going to talk to us about his 25 year history of storytelling with Greathall Productions, the differences between storytelling and just reading a book, and the advantages of storytelling to our children. Jim and his wife Randy founded Greathall Productions in 1989. It was a huge leap of faith as children’s audio at the time was just coming into fashion. Raised by parents who valued literature and history and with the additional influence of grandfathers who loved to tell stories to their grandsons, Jim grew up in the presence of literary and real-life characters in the tradition of oral language. Jim graduated from The University of Wisconsin, Madison and entered the sales and marketing profession. At forty years old, he realized that he was unfulfilled and needed to make a career change. With a lot of prayer and reflection, Jim and Randy decided to trust their intuition that a line of storytelling recordings told, not read would provide a wonderful way for children to appreciate classics at an early age. This year, Jim and Randy Weiss are celebrating Greathall Productions’ 25th Anniversary year of business. Married for 38 years, Randy and Jim reside in Charlottesville, Virginia with their newly married daughter and son-in-law.Jim is the recipient of over 100 national awards from The Old Schoolhouse, Mary Pride’s Practical Homeschooling Reader’s Choice, The American Library Association, Parents' Choice Foundation, The Film Advisory Board, Parents’ Guide to Children’s Media, Oppenheim Toy Portfolio, AudioFile, Creative Child Magazine, Children’s Media, and many more. Jim Weiss recordings are highly praised and recommended by leading home school journals and reviewers including Home Education Magazine, Homeschooling Today, Greenleaf Press, The Well Trained Mind, Family Times, The Link, and countless others.Connect with Jim...Website: Greathall ProductionsNewsletterContact/email: [email protected]: (800) 477-6234Facebook: Jim WeissTwitter: @jim_weissPinterest: Greathall Productions The Two latest recordings from Jim Weiss:The Hound of the BaskervillesI Said I Could and I Did: True Stories of 20th Century AmericansListen to Jim as he talks about:The 25 Year history of Greathall ProductionsThe difference between storytelling and just readingHow storytelling forms a bond between person telling a story and person listeningThe advantages of storytelling to our childrenHow he chooses which stories to recordThe blessings he's received in his history of storytellingLeave your comments and questions below and please share this episode with others. This page may contain affiliate links.
