Episode 23: Before Summer Slips Away: Pause, Prioritize, Protect

from I’ve Got You Mama · host Maria Hendershot

Hey mama, Have you had one of those moments lately where you look up and realize summer is already here? Maybe you've spent the last few weeks surviving graduations, recitals, sports schedules, end-of-year celebrations, work responsibilities, and all the things that come with this season of life. Maybe you've been so busy getting through May that you haven't had a chance to think about what you actually want this summer to be about. What if you paused for just a moment and asked yourself: How do I want this summer to feel? What matters most right now? When August gets here, what do I hope I'll be glad I made time for? In this episode, I'm sharing some of the tension I've been navigating in my own life as I try to be fully present with my family while also building the next chapter of my business and purpose. We talk about why creating an intentional summer isn't about making every moment magical or filling a bucket list with activities. It's about paying attention to what matters before the season slips by. I'll walk you through a simple framework I've been using myself: Pause. Prioritize. Protect. Because life moves quickly. Summer moves even faster. And the things that matter most are often the easiest things to crowd out when we're busy doing all the things. My hope is that this episode gives you a chance to slow down, reflect, and make space for what matters most in this season. Not with pressure. Not with perfection. Just with intention. This episode is part of the I've Got You Mama podcast — a show for moms and women who want to care for their whole self, live with intention, and find joy without pressure or burnout. In This Episode You'll learn: Why intentional living starts with clarity, not more planning The tension between building what's next and being present for what's now Why urgent and important are not always the same thing A simple three-step framework: Pause. Prioritize. Protect. Three powerful questions to help you create a more meaningful summer Resources Mentioned There are no formal resources mentioned in this episode. (Any links, programs, or tools referenced will always be listed here for clarity.) Connect + What's Next If this episode resonated, I'd love for you to: subscribe to the podcast so you don't miss future episodes share this conversation with a friend who might need this message right now Next week on the podcast, we'll be talking about why so many of us feel trapped in a cycle of rushing through life and how we can create more presence, peace, and intention in our everyday lives with special guest Meg Kuhnle.
