Episode 250 Being real about Missing People 🇨🇦 BC Edition

from The Be Real Babe Podcast · host Brandi Marie

In today’s episode I am launching a new series that will continue in season 11. But the immense amount of missing people in Canada needs to be talked about and cannot wait for a few months. This series begins in British Columbia. My home. Where missing people are more of an issue than almost any other province here. Although I cannot cover all open cases in this series, I urge you to go to missingpeople.ca to find the mass lists of missing humans to learn more. This series begins with three individuals. None of them are connected but all pull deeply at my heart. Ryan Shutka went missing in Sun Peaks on Feb 17th 2018. He was at a silent disco, left to a party with friends, then when they left they thought he was behind them… he has yet to be seen since. Years of investigating and searching for him have left them with more questions than answers. Where did Ryan go? Who knew what actually happened that night? Plenty of speculation but no one coming forward. Amber Manthorne. My dear Amber ❤️ Amber was last seen heading home in Port Alberni July 8th 2022. The last known person to have seen her alive was her then boyfriend Justin Hall. Who police have said they believe he is directly responsible for her disappearance. Justin was found dead a year after her disappearance, making it now nearly impossible to solve this case. Unless someone out there knows what happened and will come forward with information. Justin was seen leaving port with her car, a suitcase and a tote and no Amber. This tote and her phone have yet to be recovered. He was seen trying to flee the island and turned around and ditched her car in Cassidy. RCMP are still working on this case but they will need help from the public to help fill in any blanks, so please come forward if you know anything. The final missing persons case I bring to this series is the one of Cole Hosack who was just passing through Dawson Creek New Year’s Eve 2023 and was never seen again. Cole was hanging out at a few local places and is seen taking off from one, looking like he is running away, and he’s never seen on cameras again. A truck was seen taking off in the same direction shortly after. The family is getting little to no help, as much of the families of missing people in Dawson experience, leaving everyone even more lost and hurt from the lack of support on this case. This man has a child at home, a family who loves him yet are left out to dry for support. We as Canadians need to band together around these families and at least speak about these cases as much as possible. I cannot imagine what these families are going through and I have no idea how to help but this is a start for me. Let’s all screenshot these photos, keep up to date with missing people cases in Canada and share the FUCK out of these stories. Stop wasting time with Hollywood drama or sports game when families are out there missing members. Yes we can have both but are also supporting fellow Canadians or leaving it all up to the government? They are proving that they don’t have the resources or they don’t care. I wanna believe it’s the first but WE THE PEOPLE can care. Praying for answers for all families in Canada who are missing a loved one. Please always reach out if you need someone to talk to or have a case you want me to highlight!
