Episode 255: Aging With MS with Dr. John Corboy

from RealTalk MS · host Jon Strum and Dr. John Corboy

In last week's episode, we looked at talking with kids about MS. This week, we'll visit the opposite end of the spectrum as Dr. John Corboy discusses some of the things you'll want to think about as you age with MS.  Dr. Corboy is a professor of neurology at the University of Colorado School of Medicine, and the Director of the Rocky Mountain Multiple Sclerosis Center at the University of Colorado. Dr. Corboy is also the Principal Investigator in a recently completed clinical trial that focused on the effects of stopping MS disease-modifying medications in older people living with MS.  We're also sharing the details of a new legislative proposal designed to help manage the skyrocketing cost of prescription drugs. We'll invite you to be among the first people to review a just-published paper that focuses on how identifying the prodromal phase of MS may lead to disease prevention. We'll share the evidence from a study that shows how lifestyle choices like choosing not to smoke, engaging in physical activity, and eating a healthy diet can actually impact MS disease progression. And we'll share some shocking news about how much MS disease-modifying medication is wasted. We have a lot to talk about! Are you ready for RealTalk MS??!
