from 280+ Podcast · host Los_Def

This week we dive into my family ties and I invite my big brother Maurice aka Scrap to kick it with me. The conversation gets real, we talk about mental health, incarceration, fatherhood, and redemption. He's come a long way and we're here to celebrate that journey.  Time Stamps/Topics:   (7:00) Brother Backstory: We talk about the days when I first met my long lost brother, Maurice adapting from his life in Philly and moving to Central PA. We were inseparable after our first fist fight and how that evolved to our relationship today.     (20:45) My Brother’s Keeper: To what extent is a man responsible for his brother?   (24:20) Scrap Loves the Kids: A married man and father of 9, Scrap tells us what it’s like to manage the personalities of multiple mothers! The unique bond he has with his children and reflecting on the impact of losing time from his children due to incarceration.   (37:00) Incarceration Revelation: In County Prison he discovered a mental health diagnosis and how seeking treatment has created balance in his life and personality. His near brush with death left him with traumatic thoughts and its a daily battle (REAL TALK)   (47:36) False Badge of Honor: Glorifying prison and using it as a way to earn your “stripes” is wack and the test of a real man is to stay out and take care of your own. The plague of being institutionalized.    (53:30) Bright M.E Photography: A brand new photography company has hit the ground running and Maurice describes how he found his love for taking pictures.    (65:35) The King Street Jam: An amazing Music festival went down a few weeks ago in York, PA and featured the legendary acts such as Mya, George Clinton and the Funkadelics, and Rob Base. Bro got a chance to shoot and further his experience as a photographer. And how the local acts such as Z. Rich, Coco Shantelle, Joey CoStar, Fresh, Twain 4th Qtr Dreams, and many more held the event down and truly displayed the talent we possess and how the city has a bright future.  #Incarceration #MentalHealth #Brotherhood #Philly #Redemption #Storytelling
