Episode #263: Pictures of the Past

I look at photos of the girl I used to be, carrying more weight than she should’ve had to bear. She grew up with silence where love should’ve been, shame where pride should’ve stood. Always watching, always comparing, always shrinking to avoid being seen. Introverted by nature, yes, but back then, it wasn’t choice. It was survival.  She thought she was unworthy. Unlovable. Never enough.  Now, I see her differently. Time and healing have peeled back the lies life etched into her being. I no longer carry that same heaviness. I’ve done the work, faced the shadows, and found light in places I never thought to look.  And in that light, I see her, the younger me, not as broken, but brave. Not as invisible, but tender. She was always enough. She just didn’t know it.  Now I do.  So, when I look at those old photos, I don’t feel pity. I feel love. Respect. Gratitude. Because she made it. Because I made it.
