Episode 271: Acupuncture and MS with Jennifer Mohr-Boscaino and Ken Bandler

from RealTalk MS · host Jon Strum with Jennifer Mohr-Boscaino and Ken Bandler

When we talk about managing MS on this podcast, we're usually talking about treatments based upon traditional Western medicine. But there are also complementary therapies that have been shown to improve MS symptoms. And acupuncture is one of those complementary therapies that's been shown to be effective in treating pain, spasticity, numbness or tingling, bladder problems, and depression.  Joining me to talk about the therapeutic effects of acupuncture in treating MS symptoms are Jennifer Mohr-Boscaino and Ken Bandler. Jennifer is a licensed acupuncturist and the founder of Precious Health Acupuncture in New York, and Ken is a public relations executive who lives with MS and receives acupuncture treatment for his MS symptoms. We're also talking about how a large MS clinical trial has been able to increase minority participation, and how other MS research studies may be able to learn from this example. We'll tell you about a study that showed the benefit of COVID-19 mRNA vaccinations and boosters for people living with MS who are on b-cell depleting therapies, like Ocrevus. And if you're an MS caregiver, or you know one, I'm asking for a favor that will cost you just 5 minutes of your time. We have a lot to talk about! Are you ready for RealTalk MS??!
