Episode #276: Dancing Through the Echoes of Abandonment

from Tea Time w/Amie & Bev · host Amie Wade

When abandonment or rejection is woven into the earliest chapters of life, whether through adoption, an absent parent, or a parent choosing to step away, it leaves an invisible thread running through the heart. That thread often tangles into a lifelong quest to be “good enough,” to prove worthiness in every friendship, relationship, or connection.  The child who grows into an adult may find themselves over-giving, clinging, or reading silence as rejection. They may chase love like its oxygen, fearing that if they stop proving themselves, the people they care about will walk away. It’s exhausting to live in constant audition mode, always performing for approval.  Somewhere between the longing and the ache, there’s a spark. The realization that you don’t have to be perfect, or needed, to be worthy of love. You can release the script that was handed to you before you could speak and write your own story.  So, you choose to dance. You choose to sing. Not because the pain never happened, but because it doesn’t own you anymore. The music is yours now. Embrace yourself knowing you are enough exactly as you are.  May this conversation be beneficial to your life journey.
