With its emphasis on critical thinking, effective communication, independent research and teamwork, debate teaches skills that serve individuals well in school, in the workplace, and in life.Debaters have been proven to become leaders and successful professionals.   Debaters become better critical thinkers and communicators. They tend to have better social interactions and they are not argumentative with their family and friends, but oddly enough, more understanding. Debaters are more often seen as leaders. Studies show that those who communicate often and well, and give a balance of positive and negative comments, are seen as leaders.  And debaters tend to be more informed, active, and participating overall.  Our guests today are Chris and Wendy Jeub.  The Jeubs are published authors of family resources, are directors of a ministry for academic speakers and debaters, and are parents of 16 children. They will be speaking with us today on the importance of communication and the benefits of debating.  We will also be talking a little about homeschooling a large family.In 2007 the Jeub family was featured on TLC in a miniseries called “Kids by the Dozen.” Since then the Jeubs have appeared on several media outlets, all giving a joyful and wholesome presentation of the love of family. They have published five books — all centered around their flagship theme Love in the House. Chris and Wendy consider it a great privilege to encourage families to focus on the “most important commandment” in their homes.The Jeubs run a successful ministry of camps and events tailored toward homeschool speakers and debaters. Training Minds Ministry has helped thousands of home educators “train minds for action” (1 Peter 1:13), particularly in academic competitions. Many of their program’s alumni are national title winners — two of whom are Jeub children — and are noted for their excellent results. The Jeubs consider their organization to be a “great commission ministry,” its greater vision to train young people to be effective and diligent world changers. Chris and Wendy have graduated four children from home education.
