Episode #308: The Freedom You Didn’t Know You Needed

from Tea Time w/Amie & Bev · host Amie Wade

There’s a quiet kind of power in learning to step back and simply… let them.  Let them choose differently than you would. Let them make mistakes. Let them walk their own path, even when every part of you wants to step in, fix it, or guide the outcome. This isn’t about indifference; it’s about releasing the exhausting grip of control that often comes from deeply rooted, learned behaviors.  Many of us were taught, directly or indirectly, that love looks like managing, correcting, or protecting others from discomfort. But over time, that pattern can create tension, resentment, and emotional burnout. However, growth doesn’t come from being controlled, it comes from experience.  When you begin to practice “let them,” something shifts. You create space, not just for others to learn and evolve, but for yourself to breathe. You become more aware of your triggers, your fears, and the stories driving your need for control.  In relationships and parenting especially, this mindset invites trust, respect, and emotional freedom. It’s not always easy (control has a sneaky way of dressing up as “helping”), but it is transformative.  So today, pause before reacting. Ask yourself: Is this mine to carry… or is it theirs to learn?   And then, gently….let them.  May this conversation be beneficial to your life journey.
