Episode 35 | Debunking the hurtful myths of forgiveness

from Silent Grief Podcast · host Jimmy and Clara Hinton

People who do not forgive are often labeled as bitter, unforgiving, stuck in the past, and even mentally unstable. These are unfortunate assumptions that place blame on innocent people who are victims of abuse, crimes, and even death. We have been taught to believe that unless we forgive others (no matter what) then we won't be forgiven. Parents who've lost a child to a sensless crime are targets of this kind of teaching. They can be ridiculed to the point of bullying. This is why it's important to debunk the myths associated with forgiveness and give clear directives as found in the scriptures. Whether people are believers or not, these principles are important for everyone. Forgiveness is not freely given to everyone. It rests on the foundation of repentance. Oftentimes forgiveness was withheld in the Bible. Join us for an important discussion on what forgiveness is and isn't and hear the things that actually usher in closure. Find us on Facebook:https://www.facebook.com/SilentGriefSupporthttps://www.facebook.com/jimmyhintonauthorAnd Twitter:https://twitter.com/clarahintonhttps://twitter.com/JimmyHinton12
