Episode 35. Steven May – The driving force behind his success

from Never Too Late Podcast · host Blake Collyer

In this episode I had the privilege of chatting to Steven May who is an AFL footballer for the Melbourne Demons, a premiership player for the Demons in 2021, a two time All Australian backman and has played over 200 games in 13 years. It was great to chat about his upbringing in Darwin before making the move to Melbourne to pursue his footy career and try to fulfil his dreams of playing AFL and on the MCG. We talk about his time at the Gold Coast Suns and his time as Co-Captain there. Along with that we cover the triumphs in his career and the tougher times that have helped shape him into the person he is today! We talk about this and so much more! Here are some key points that Steven and I spoke about:- Growing up in Darwin  - Being drafted to the Gold Coast Suns- Advice for younger players - Growing with his leadership skills- The 2021 Premiership- 2 x All Australian- His deep competitiveness- Seeing a psychologist and having a mental health routine- The importance of friends   - Having a deep desire to be better every day- Dean Solomon believing and helping him early on in his career- Book “The Road Less Travelled”I hope you all enjoy listening to the conversation Steven and I had, and can implement some of the incredible knowledge he shared, to help you all on your self improvement journeys.
