Episode #362: 2022 IndyCar Grand Prix of Indy Report

from Motorsport101 · host Dre Harrison

We were due a crazy one in IndyCar at some point with this season, and we just got one as IndyCar kicked off its Month of May with a rain-affected GMR Grand Prix of Indianapolis! It was Colton Herta that took full advantage of the changeable conditions, gambled on slicks first, leapt to the front from 14th and would then be virtually unstoppable at the front.Mind you, he got a gift in the hands of Scott McLaughlin and his pitcrew. They were so adamant the track would dry out that slicks would be quicker. Until he spun under caution with slicks on a wet track. Same for Pato O'Ward as the title contenders parted like Moses and the Red Sea. Alex Palou and Josef Newgarden also struggling to see the flag off the lead lap. We talk that and some of the driving standards we saw in Indy which... weren't good, chief! We also talk about the future of the series as talk persists that we may see a Netflix-style documentary series about IndyCar in the future. We talk about the potential pitfalls that the series could have in producing that and the audience it might try to reach. It's the first of three episodes over the weekend, so check back soon for MotoGP from Le Mans!
