Episode 398: Coach Jamie Parish:“Measure What Matters: Building Better Players Before the Season”

Jamie Parish is in his 13th year at Sioux Falls Washington High School, where he teaches physical education and serves as the head girls basketball coach.Jamie is a native of Yankton, South Dakota.He earned his education degree from Augustana College in Sioux Falls, a master's degree in physical education from the University of South Dakota and an Education Specialist degree from the University of Sioux Falls.His coaching journey has included stops at the University of South Dakota, Mount Marty College and Hot Springs, along with serving as the head girls basketball coach and athletic director at Centerville and the head girls basketball coach at Vermillion.And his résumé speaks for itself.Coach Parish has the unique distinction of coaching state tournament qualifiers in all three classifications of South Dakota girls basketball.During his career, his teams have made numerous state tournament appearances and he's won four state championships, including the 2007 championship at Vermillion and championships at Sioux Falls Washington in 2015, 2021 and 2023.But what I really like about today's conversation is that we're not just talking about what Jamie has won.We're talking about how he develops players and builds a program.Coach Jamie Parish, welcome to the Championship Vision Podcast.
