from The Homeschool Leadercast · host The Homeschool Leadercast

Applying Scripture in Everyday Life andHer Newly Released Book: As They Sit and Stand"These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up." Deuteronomy 6:6-7.  Teaching scripture to our children at all times is mandated by God here in this passage that is popular among homeschoolers.  God tells us to impress his commandments upon our children when you sit, when you walk and when you lie down.  And scripture is applicable to everything in our lives. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 tells us, "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work." So, in a nutshell, God is telling us that we should teach scripture all of the time in all that we do.  Our next guest, Dara Halydier, is going to talk to us about just that.Dara has homeschooled for 21 years and just retired!  Her five boys are launched and doing well.  They love the Lord, serve Him, and love to get together as often as possible!  Dara is a pastor’s wife, a Bible teacher, a conference and retreat speaker, a mentor and a friend.  She is the author of Practical Proverbs for Younger Students and Practical Proverbs for Older Students.  And Dara’s has a just released book, As They Sit and Stand: A Resource and Guide for Teaching Your Children the Bible.  Dara loves chocolate, sunsets, long walks with her husband, and books.  Dara has learned life’s lessons the hard way – experience!  She has moved over thirty times, deals with chronic pain and a disability, has four boys with learning disabilities, and has overcome a past of abuse and shame to proclaim God’s grace, forgiveness, and freedom.  Dara dances before her King and climbs up in her Father’s lap daily.Connect with...Website: Abiding Truth MinistryBlog: Abiding Truth Ministry BlogFacebook: Abiding Truth MinistryTwitter: @AbidingTruthLinkedIn: Dara Halydier As They Sit and Stand: A Resource and Guide for Teaching Your Children the BibleListen to Dara as she talks about:How Scripture can be applied in all areas of educationHow we can apply Bible time in all our schoolworkWhat are teachable moments and how we can best take advantage of themShould we have a more formal bible study or devotion in our homes in addition to implementing Bible study in all we do?Why daily bible study at home is so important.Talks about her new book, As They Sit and Stand: A Resource and Guide for Teaching Your Children the BibleLeave your comments and questions below and please share this episode with others. This page may contain affiliate links.
