He got involved in Elk Point minor sports because of his kids, he stuck around because of all the other kids that have come along since. Doug Bassett is a fixture at the A.G. Ross Arena and the local ball diamonds. For over 30 years he's been chipping in where ever and when ever he's needed. From infusing kids like me with a life long love of the game, to throwing a future NHLer on the pitching mound to rally Elk Point to it's first Baseball Provincial Championship. (that's right, the hero of one of Elk Points biggest baseball moments went on to play over 500 NHL games) Doug shares some of his fondest memories of just being there when people needed him. One of my favorite coaches, mentor, and fan, Doug Bassett has always been Someone Completely interesting!
