Episode 42: Breaking the Rules for a Well-Balanced Life with Heather Fuselier

from Get Savvy...Demystifying Healthcare · host Sandy Kibling

Send us Fan MailOkay let’s talk about our not so favorite topic…what you eat and how you eat.  The truth is I dislike this topic as much as anyone else but, what I can’t deny are the statistics that obesity contributes to heart disease, diabetes, and cholesterol to name a few.It also impacts your quality of life.  I recently had some friends come back from a vacation that that they had waited years to take.  They enjoyed their trip but were so frustrated that they were limited to the things they could do.  Ziplining not an option due to weight limits. Hikes they could only do the easy ones due to knee and backpain and frankly just too out of shape to do anything more than 1.5 mile flat course. This limited the time they could spend exploring an area of the world they had waited years to see.You are not alone.  We all struggle, but another fad diet is not necessarily the ticket to success.  If we could better understand this, and have better health, feel good about how we look and along the way perhaps reduce medications and doctor visits in an expensive and complicated healthcare system.  Willing to give it a try? Hello everyone and welcome to the show Are You Hungry? Eat Mindfully, Live Vibrantly.  Do you dread the doctor’s office and hoping you have a morning appointment so you weigh less.  Do you brace yourself for the lecture from your primary care physician at your annual review on what you are doing do lose that extra 20 pounds.  You dread it but in the back of your mind you likely wish you had better control over your weight and are feeling frustrated.Heather earned her nickname “Healthy Heather” from her enthusiasm to help everyone around her to connect with the elements of their lives that enables them to sustain balance in health and wellbeing. As a National Board Certified Health Coach and Certified Tobacco Treatment Specialist, Heather brings over 15 years of coaching and professional wellbeing experience to organizations to help them support employees through worksite wellness initiatives. While we have had wellness coaches on before I wanted to bring Heather on to speak on the obesity and healthy eating aspect since it can be a contributing factor to other health issues and overall quality of life. Today we will discuss:1)    Overweight, Undernourished and Stressed Out…Heather’s Story.2)    The approach to intuitive eating.3)    Eat what you love, love what you eat.  Resources:Heather Fuselier - Solves Everything Am I Hungry WorkshopSupport the show

Wounded Warriors of the Cross Gary Pastoral and clergy mental health is a mostly ignored area, especially by those who live their lives as pastors in the clergy. The stigma of mental health within those who serve in the shadow of the cross is something that invokes the stigma of fear. Many of those in the clergy will choose to suffer in their despair rather than reaching out for help. Sometimes those suffering choose to wait until it's too late to get the real help that they need. At Wounded Warriors of the Cross our mission is to lift the stigma and the veil of silence that encompasses clergy mental health and assist those who suffer in silence. Wounded Warriors of the Cross is here to shed the light of Christ's love into those dark places.
